Tour in Norway

During the last week, I traveled to Norway with the flute ensemble of SDMK (Syddansk Musikkonservatorium). It was an incredible journey, not only because of the beautiful landscape, but I was lucky enough to share the whole experience with my best friend (who happens to be also a flutist). It was nearly 12 hours of travel from Odense to Kristiansand on our first day, but honestly, it flew away quickly. The only thing I was a bit nervous about was the ferry. I have been only on small boats before, so this was my first time on the open sea. Luckily the weather was good and the sky was so clear, that we could enjoy the starlight and full moon through the huge windows. The whole place gave the vibes of the “Dreamship” ( Das Traumschiff, tv series from Germany). They had live music, countless shops, bars, and whole decks of luxury rooms. We did not rent a room for our 3 hours of stay, but it made me think of choosing a cruise as my possible next holiday option (although I have to remember, that the waves were really gentle now). Carrying the bass flute along with my backpack and suitcase was a real challenge sometimes. Most of the streets in the two cities where we have been were uphill and covered in cobblestone, making the wheels work a lot harder. Despite that, our concerts went great and every evening we had dinner and some activities together. I am happy that we also got time on our own to explore the city. We had plenty of time between the concerts and rehearsals to discover everything at our own tempo. I just realized how much this matters to me. I hope we will have more tours like that, I think it was a unique experience. Thank you so much for reading, see you in the next post!
